Additional Learning

The instructions for making a basic beer can easily be printed on a single sheet of paper but the insights needed to produce quality beer in a range of styles require more in-depth study. Indeed, those who become fascinated with beer find that they can spend a lifetime learning about its many aspects.

The basics of brewing can be found on the Internet and in short guides available from homebrew shops. But anyone interested in brewing more than a couple of batches will want to study further, and many good books are available. In the United States, two print magazines cater to homebrewers: Zymurgy, published by the American Homebrewers Association (Boulder, CO), and Brew Your Own, published by Battenkill Communications of Vermont.

Beyond this, homebrewers can find a variety of other sources of information from brewers forums that range from local to international in scope, online radio shows, and classes from retailers and internationally known brewing schools.
